This is a past event
The Getty Villa is modeled on a Roman seaside luxury villa near the ancient city of Herculaneum, which was buried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. Excavations have yielded spectacular finds, including a papyrus scroll library, which give the ancient Villa dei Papiri its modern name. On this 45-minute tour, learn about excavations spanning over 200 years and marvel at objects coveted by the first-century elite. Sign-up begins 15 minutes before the tour at the Tour Meeting Place.
