Prized for their brilliant color and versatility, pastels were first used in the 16th century and continue to enjoy popularity today. Join artist Kaleeka Bond in an exploration of the materials and techniques used to produce pastel artworks.

This free, drop-in program is produced in partnership with Self Help Graphics & Art and complements the exhibition Pastel Portraits: Drawn from Life? in the South Pavilion.

About the Artist:
Kaleeka Bond was born in Virginia and grew up in Southern California. She received her BFA in 2006 and her MFA in 2008 from Laguna College of Art and Design (LCAD) in Laguna Beach, CA and has been exhibiting her work regularly for over two decades. After obtaining her MFA, Kaleeka went on to teach drawing and painting at numerous colleges throughout Southern California. She currently teaches seven classes at four different colleges and universities. Alongside her busy career, Kaleeka owns and operates two businesses and is raising two small kids with her husband.
