Artist Dora Maar defies easy categorization. Maar trained as a painter, made her name as a photographer, and brought her creative energy to printmaking, collage, drawing, and poetry. Her prolific originality and fluidity across media now stands as a resonant model for contemporary artists. In this panel, moderated by independent curator Charlotte Cotton, contemporary artists—including Carmen Winant and Suné Woods—discuss how their work presents its own forms of innovation and resistance, and share their responses to Maar’s multiform sensibility.
