The oldest part of the armor is the helmet bowl. Sakai Tadamochi, daimyō (lord) of the Obama fief in Wakasa province and military governor of Kyoto from 1752 to 1756, gained custody of the armor during the late Edo period and commissioned its refurbishment at this time.
