Materials from "Recent Advances in Characterizing Asian Lacquers" workshops

The workshop series "Recent Advances in Characterizing Asian Lacquers" which began in Los Angeles in 2012 and includes workshops in the Americas, Europe, and Asia, developed from collaborative research between the Conservation Institute and the J. Paul Getty Museum into Asian and western lacquers. The research from this project has produced a wealth of new information about lacquers including a number of highly specialized protocols and tools for getting detailed compositional information about lacquers.
"Recent Advances in Characterizing Asian Lacquers" puts these complementary techniques and tools into practice in a collaborative setting between scientists and conservators and aims to help participants improve their capacity to characterize lacquers and to better understand lacquer and lacquer analysis.
