Getty welcomes all visitors and is committed to providing services and programs that are accessible to everyone. Below you will find information about our location accessibility and our statement on digital accessibility.
Digital Accessibility Statement
Getty is committed to accessibility and usability of its website, the GettyGuide App, all digital services, and other digital content. We are continually working to implement W3C Best Practices and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) that make all of these services accessible to all people with disabilities. Our efforts to create an optimally accessible digital experience are ongoing.

The Getty Center
The Getty Center is ADA accessible to all visitors.
Service Animals
Service animals, such as guide dogs for the blind, are welcome at the Getty. Pets and emotional support animals are not allowed.
Seating and Resting Areas
Indoor and outdoor seating is offered throughout the site, including at the:
- Lower Tram Station
- Upper Tram Station
- Museum Entrance Hall
- Museum Courtyard
- Central Garden
- Galleries
- Family Restroom in the Museums South Pavilion
Accessible Parking
Accessible parking spaces are located on the entry level of the Main Parking Structure. They are available on a first come, first served basis.

For Visitors with Blindness or Partial Sight
Visual Descriptions Audio Tour
Available on the free GettyGuide app, a visual descriptions audio tour offers detailed descriptions of selected works on display at the Center.
Indoor Lighting
Lighting may be dimmed in galleries that contain photographs, manuscripts, and drawings to protect the art.
For Visitors Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
ASL Interpretation
To request ASL interpretation, please email visitorservices@getty.edu with your name and arrival date and time. It is recommended to submit the request at least two weeks in advance.
Assistive Listening Devices
Free assistive listening devices (ALDs) are available for most tours.
Induction Neck Loops
Free induction neck loops (for live performances in an auditorium, etc.), which work with hearing aids that have a T coil switch, are available at most event venues.
Infrared Sound Enhancement
The Harold M. Williams Auditorium and the Museum Lecture Hall are equipped with infrared sound enhancement systems.
Text Transcriptions of Audio Tours
Text transcriptions of audio tours are available on the free GettyGuide app.
For Visitors Using Mobility Aids
Tram
The tram from the Getty Center parking structure to the top of the hill is accessible for visitors using wheelchairs. If using a wheelchair, please board in an end car. To reach the tram, take the elevator in the parking structure up to level T1, after you pass through security. The tram station is approximately 20 level feet from the elevator doors.
Standard Wheelchairs
Wheelchairs are available for free rental on a first come, first served basis at the Lower Tram Station above the parking structure and at the Coat Check Room in the Museum Entrance Hall.
Wheelchair Seating
Front and rear row seating for people using wheelchairs is available in the Harold M. Williams Auditorium and the Museum Lecture Hall Visitor Services staff will be available to assist you.
Accessible Facilities
All public restrooms have accessible facilities. A family restroom, located in the Museum South Pavilion, includes private facilities for assisting a companion.
Elevators
Elevators are available throughout the site, including:
- In the Parking Structure
- From the Tram Arrival Plaza to the Museum Plaza level (approximately 60 level feet from the Museum Entrance Hall)
- From the Museum Entrance Hall to the second floor of the North Pavilion
- From the Museum Courtyard to the Central Garden and the Exhibitions Pavilion
- In the Museum Pavilions
- In the GRI Library Area
The Getty Villa
The Getty Villa Museum is ADA accessible to all visitors.
Service Animals

The Villa Auditorium is equipped with infrared sound enhancement systems.

Open captioning in English accompanies the introductory film shown in the Orientation Theater.

For Visitors Using Mobility Aids

Wheelchair Seating
Front and rear row wheelchair seating is available at events in the Auditorium and the Outdoor Classical Theater for visitors using wheelchairs and for their companions. Visitor Services staff will be available to assist you.
Accessible Facilities
All public restrooms have accessible facilities. Family restrooms include private facilities for assisting a companion and are located next to the Museum Store and at the tour bus drop off area.
