About

Goal

This region-wide collaboration, led by Getty and supported by Getty Foundation grants, had three goals: create new knowledge about Latin American and Latino art; enhance intellectual exchange between Los Angeles and Latin America; and present Latin American and Latino art to the public at a large scale.

Outcomes

  • Over 70 exhibitions and public programs throughout Southern California
  • 60 new publications with original research and previously unpublished artworks and documentation
  • Additional venues for nearly 20 exhibitions that traveled to museums in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico
  • Workshops and symposia dedicated to Latin American and Latino art
  • Increased access to Latin American and Latino art archives in United States and Latin America
  • A Teacher Resource Guide that tied PST: LA/LA themes to core standards for K–12 students, teachers, and families

Economic impact was assessed through a study undertaken by the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation and overall impact was shared through a report on grantmaking outcomes.
