Ordering and Reproducing Images from the J. Paul Getty Museum's Collection
Thank you for your interest in obtaining images from the collection of the J. Paul Getty Museum.
The J. Paul Getty Museum grants permission to download collection images from our Web site for your own personal and non-commercial use, or for fair use as defined in the United States copyright laws. Requests for all other uses must be made in writing, and the Museum will only consider requests to use or reproduce images of objects in its collection for scholarly, educational, or non-commercial purposes. Each request is separately considered, and permission is granted on a case-by-case basis at the sole discretion of the Museum. Fees apply depending on the type and nature of the intended use.
Note: The Museum does not give permission for commercial use such as promoting other products, advertising, etc. Please contact the Merchandise Development office for permission to create merchandise and a fee quote (see contact information at right).
How to Order
Requests for permission to use or reproduce Museum images may be submitted electronically via the Terms of Use links below. All requests for images and permission to reproduce are subject to approval. If fees apply, you will also be invoiced, and pre-payment is required.
Pre-payment
Payment in full is due in advance of all media shipments and must be made in U.S. dollars. Accepted forms of payment include checks drawn from U.S. banks, wire transfers, and credit cards (Visa or MasterCard only). Payment must be received within 6 weeks from invoice for your order to be fulfilled promptly.

RUSH FEE Double total fees. If new photography is not required, rush orders may be accommodated for requests of 5 images or less. Media will be sent within one week of receipt of payment and the completed permission request form.

Thereafter, once the payment has been received, please allow an additional 2 weeks for the images to be sent to you (or, up to 2 months for images from the Department of Photographs or Drawings collections). Large and complex orders or requests for which new photography must be ordered will take longer. Note that requests submitted by mail, email, or fax will take longer to fill. Those with missing information will not be accepted.
