When Jessie’s work bestie gives her an unexpected gift, a newfound passion is ignited.

Soon, Jessie is capturing the riot of birds’ colors in watercolor everywhere she goes—a pursuit she finds soothing and joyful. “Cue the special interest rabbit hole,” she says as her obsession grows. To find out more about this meditative art, Jessie first visits the Getty Museum’s Drawings Room to see two bird watercolors by artist Sarah Stone.

Inspired by the paintings to get closer to actual birds, Jessie then meets Allison Shultz, an ornithologist at the Natural History Museum who shows her a collection of taxidermied tanager birds—and Jessie’s mind opens to a magical mix of sunlight, color, and feathers.

Join Jessie as she explores the surprising connection between the avian world and art by watching the full episode below.
