Getty’s annual College Night will once again welcome students from across the Los Angeles area on Monday, April 13. This year’s event will be at the Getty Center, with extended hours from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

College Night is open to students with a college I.D. and an online ticket reservation. Admission, parking and activities for the evening are free. The Getty Museum Store will be open with a 20% discount for attendees.

Guests can listen to DJ Hourglass in the Museum Courtyard while enjoying a complimentary meal and dessert, and join a gallery tour that connects students with curators, staff and gallery guides.

And get a whiff of this––self-guided tours with scent strips from The Institute for Art and Olfaction offer a new, sensory way to experience the art collection. Additionally, CalArts faculty member and artist Gabrielle Civil will present a performance artwork called “Black Weirdo School,”and LA graffiti legend Prime demonstrates the pioneering "LA Style"—a mix of bold, geometric block letters with calligraphic and monochromatic influences. Otis College of Art and Design professor Heather Joseph-Witham and students from the course titled “Paranormal L.A.” will host art making activities. Artist Peter Zokosky will lead drawing demonstrations and live figure drawing.

At the Getty Research Institute building, students can view short film and video works from GRI collections, get crafty with themed postcards and enjoy popcorn. Students can also get a last look at the exhibition “How to Be a Guerrilla Girl,” which will be open for a final viewing.

Additional current exhibitions at the Center include “Photography and the Black Arts Movement, 1955–1985,” “Beginnings: The Story of Creation in the Middle Ages” and “Virtue and Vice: Allegory in European Drawing.” Students can also soak in views of the city at Getty’s Central Garden.

Taking place during Earth Month, the event features sustainability elements including upcycled art materials for collage with artists from Collage Garage. Guests who bring a refillable water bottle can decorate it with free stickers designed by graffiti artist Prime and hydrate at pop-up water refill stations. Students can bring a reusable tote bag to silkscreen with Nova Community Arts, or snag a tote bag to decorate.

Carpooling to the museum is encouraged. Online reservations are available now. Please bring your college I.D. or proof of student status.
