- Ollie says, “Identity isn’t just one thing. It’s the inside stuff: memories, feelings, beliefs; and the outside stuff: family, culture, language, community; and the choices you make, what you fight for, what you show up for.” If you had to make a brief list of the different elements that make up your own identity, what would you include?
- In the recording of Sandino Gonzalez Flores from Alta / A Human Atlas of a City of Angels, he describes his sense of identity as follows, “We’re in this ‘in between’ as Chicanos….We’re American, but we’re also Mexican, and we’re just as much one as the other, but we’re not really either.” Have you ever had a feeling of “in between-ness” with your identity? What was it like?
- At the end, Ollie says: “It helps to recognize who people are, and what they care enough about to act on.” What is one of your own actions or commitments that reflects something important about who you are? How does it connect to your identity?
