In celebration of the winter solstice, join us for a sacred evening of reflection, nourishment, and multisensory communion inspired by Cook Book for a Sacred Life by Ram Dass. Ayurvedic practitioner Anjali Deva of Rooted Rasa will guide a shared meal and contemplative exchange rooted in Ram Dass’s teachings on presence, compassion, and interconnectedness. The evening will include a live meditative soundscape by soft future, an experimental ensemble blending generative and environmental sound.

This event is part of the Getty Research Institute’s Tastemakers series, featuring communal gatherings inspired by cookbooks from the Getty Library. Presented in partnership with Del Vaz Projects.

  1. Anjali Deva

    Ayurvedic Practitioner and Educator

    Anjali Deva is an Ayurvedic practitioner currently residing in the mountains of Southern California. Her private practice, Rooted Rasa, specializes in an integrative and trauma-informed approach to Ayurveda. Anjali founded Mādhya Way, a school for Ayurveda in 2020 to provide education in trauma-informed care. She is the co-author of From Stressed Out to Stress Wise, published in July 2023. She is dedicated to sharing the wisdom of Ayurveda for the benefit of all living beings.

    Music Collective

    soft future is an experimental music collective stewarded by lani trock and david moses. The group's central intention is to create music that touches spirit and transcends the limits of the earthly plane. Their performances are exploratory, multi-sensory journeys, activating the universal language of music as a transmitter of cosmic consciousness. Often participatory in nature, their work invites audience members to co-create musical expressions together, opening portals to new dimensions and imaginal worlds.

Planning your arrival

Please bring your tickets with you and have them open on your mobile device or printed. Your event ticket is also your entry to the Getty Center and will be checked upon arrival as you go through security before taking the tram or walking up the hill. Your ticket will also be checked at the event entrance.

Seating

Unless otherwise noted, all seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. We recommend arriving early to select your preferred seat.

Accessibility

Wheelchairs are available for free rental on a first-come, first-served basis at the Lower Tram Station above the parking structure and at the Coat Check Room in the Museum Entrance Hall.

Assisted listening devices are available for this event. Please request one from our Visitor Services associates when you check in.
