The Vermillion Accord on Archaeological Ethics and the Treatment of the Dead (1989)

World Archaeological Congress (WAC)

Adopted at the South Dakota WAC Inter-Congress, this six-point accord outlines standards for treatment of the mortal remains of the dead. It calls for respect for the mortal remains of the dead in accordance with the wishes of the dead, relatives, and the local community as well as the value of scientific research.
