About

The Getty Conservation Institute’s book publishing program serves the global conservation profession by documenting and disseminating conservation work, and publishing original research, training materials, and reports of conservation projects and meetings. We also seek to maintain and strengthen the standing of the conservation profession by making available the thinking and writing that has formed the intellectual basis of the field; supporting and publishing the work of early-career scholars and practitioners; giving students and those who are considering a career in the field access to a wealth of publications; and informing interested non-specialists about the challenges, satisfactions, and values of conservation.

The program draws on the work of Conservation Institute staff and conservators and related professionals throughout the world. Conservation Institute staff also give presentations and publish articles and papers in a wide variety of journals, conference proceedings, and other media. A bibliography of materials authored by staff in 2024 is available.

To propose a book to the Getty Conservation Institute, please contact the Conservation Institute’s Publications department at gcipublications@getty.edu.
