Like jeans and a crisp white shirt, a little black dress and heels, or a classic blazer and tailored pants, music and fashion just seem to pair well together.
Fashion and music are deeply intertwined, reciprocally influencing one another and shaping our cultural landscape, from the mod youth culture of the Swinging Sixties to the streetwear of hip-hop. Music is also a key component on the runway, setting the tone and atmosphere for a designer’s collection. Likewise, a great playlist can make the difference between a good photo shoot and a great photo shoot.

The Summer 2025 issue of Getty magazine is all about fashion. To celebrate, here are a few songs to strut to, whether on the catwalk or in your kitchen. But remember, in the great words of drag queen and supermodel RuPaul—featured in the playlist and whose portrait above is currently on display in the Getty Center exhibition Queer Lens: A History of Photography (which includes a number of delightful fashion moments)—you better work!
