Garden Concerts for Kids Returns for Summer at the Getty Center

Free performances feature children’s music from artists Dan + Claudia Zanes with Tyree Austin, Flor Bromley, and Elizabeth Mitchell

Getty’s free annual outdoor summer concert series “Garden Concerts for Kids” returns for weekends in August, offering kids and their families a chance to dance, jump, shake and sing with notable children’s musicians. The series kicks off on August 1 and 2 with Dan + Claudia Zanes with Tyree Austin, followed by Flor Bromley on August 8 and 9, and Elizabeth Mitchell on August 15 and 16.

Free reservations are required and include general admission to the museum. The concerts will be held at 4pm on the grass lawn at the Getty Center’s Central Garden. Visitors are encouraged to bring a blanket and picnic for the concerts, and to explore the galleries and current exhibitions.

“We’re delighted to welcome families to this year’s Garden Concerts for Kids season and celebrate an incredible lineup of talented musicians who will fill the garden with music, fun, and memorable performances for all to enjoy,” said Daniela Alvarez, public programs coordinator at the Getty Museum.

The Getty Center is open from Tuesday through Friday and Sunday from 10am to 6:30pm and Saturday from 10am to 9pm. Parking is $25, or $15 after 3pm and $10 after 6pm. Parking is free after 6pm on Saturdays. Folding chairs, metal cutlery, glass, and alcohol are not permitted. Please review the FAQs online.

Getty has free family programming year-round at the Getty Center and Getty Villa. As previously announced, the Getty Center will temporarily close for renovations next year beginning March 2027.

Their interactive concerts blend folk, jazz, gospel, and roots music with the sounds of 12-string guitar, flute, trombone, saxophone, beatboxing, and percussion, inviting audiences of all ages to dance, sing along, or simply soak up the uplifting energy.

Celebrate music, culture, and imagination with Flor Bromley, the Grammy and Latin Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter creating joyful bilingual music for families. Join Elizabeth Mitchell for a special anniversary concert celebrating 20 years of You Are My Little Bird, the landmark Smithsonian Folkways album that introduced a new generation to the beauty of folk music for families. With her warm, timeless voice, Elizabeth breathes new life into treasured American folk songs and melodies from around the world, creating performances that are both gentle and deeply moving.
