In nature, you see spiral curves everywhere: galaxies, the nautilus shell, and whirlpools.

Each of these swirls matches the flow of the letters in 700-year-old Persian calligraphy.

For master calligrapher Payman Hamed, this is no accident. These curves are intrinsic to the natural world and to the story of Persian calligraphy.

Also, writing is one of the most important things created by humans. “Words are the core of what we pass on to the next generation,” says Hamed. So in each letter, there is nature and there is a human connection.
