Public Transportation to the Getty Center

The Getty Center can be reached from most Los Angeles locations via Metro bus or rail lines. In Los Angeles, call 323-GO-METRO (323-466-3876) or visit www.metro.net for detailed information. Metro buses require exact change. There are ticket machines at all Metro train stations.

Please note that due to construction on Interstate 405 and bridges at Sunset Boulevard near the Getty Center, on Mulholland Drive, and near the Skirball Cultural Center, some bus lines may be redirected at some times.

From Downtown Los Angeles
From From 5th Street and Grand Avenue, take Metro Rapid Bus 720 (direction Santa Monica) to Wilshire Blvd./Westwood Blvd. (approximately 40 minutes). Walk one block north to Westwood Blvd./Lindbrook Drive and take Metro Rapid Bus 761 (direction Pacoima) to the Getty Center stop (approximately 20 minutes).

From Hollywood
From Sunset Blvd., take Metro Rapid Bus 2 (direction PCH) to Hilgard Ave./Westholme Ave. at UCLA, (approximately 35 minutes). Cross to southeast corner and take Metro Rapid Bus 761 (direction Pacoima) to the Getty Center stop (approximately 12 minutes).

From Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
From the LAX City Bus Center (Bus Bay 10), take Culver City Bus 6 (direction UCLA/Westwood) to Westwood Blvd./Lindbrook Drive (approximately 1 hour). Note: Purchase an inter-agency transfer on the Culver City Bus. Change to Metro Rapid Bus 761 (direction Pacoima) to the Getty Center stop (approximately 20 minutes).

From Santa Monica
From Ocean Ave./Colorado Ave., take Metro Rapid Bus 720 (direction Downtown L.A.) to Wilshire Blvd./Westwood Blvd. (approximately 25 minutes). Walk one block north to Westwood Blvd./Lindbrook Drive and take Metro Rapid Bus 761 (direction Pacoima) to the Getty Center stop (approximately 20 minutes).

From 4th St./Broadway Ave., take Santa Monica Big Blue Bus 2 (direction UCLA) to Westwood Blvd./Lindbrook Drive (approximately 30 minutes). Change to Metro Rapid Bus 761 (direction Pacoima) to the Getty Center stop (approximately 20 minutes).

From Pasadena
Take the Metro Gold Line train to Union Station in downtown Los Angeles. Change to the Metro Red or Purple Line train and ride to 7th St/Metro Center. Take Metro Rapid Bus 720 (direction Santa Monica) to Wilshire Blvd./Westwood Blvd. (approximately 40 minutes). Walk one block north to Westwood Blvd./Lindbrook Drive and take Metro Rapid Bus 761 (direction Pacoima) to the Getty Center stop (approximately 20 minutes).

From Universal City/East San Fernando Valley
From Universal City Station (Bus Bay 3), take Metro Rapid Bus 750 (direction Warner Center) to Ventura Blvd./Sepulveda Blvd. (approximately 25 minutes). Change to Metro Rapid Bus 761 (direction Westwood) to the Getty Center stop (approximately 15 minutes).

Public Transportation to the Getty Villa

The Getty Villa can be reached from most Los Angeles locations via Metro bus or rail lines. In Los Angeles, call 323-GO-METRO (323-466-3876) or visit www.metro.net for detailed information. Metro buses require exact change.

All visitors to the Getty Villa need an advance, timed ticket. You can book free tickets online here or call 310-440-7300. If you take public transportation to the Villa, you must have your Villa admission ticket hole-punched by the bus driver in order to enter the Villa.

From Downtown Los Angeles
From From 5th Street and Grand Avenue, take Metro Rapid Bus 720 (direction Santa Monica) to Ocean Ave./Santa Monica Blvd. (approximately 1 hour). Change to Metro Express bus 534 (direction Malibu) to the Getty Villa/Coastline Drive stop (approximately 20 minutes).

From Sunset Blvd., take Metro Rapid Bus 2 (direction PCH) to Pacific Coast Highway (approximately 1 hour). Cross Pacific Coast Highway and take Metro Express Bus 534 (direction Malibu) to the Getty Villa/Coastline Drive stop (approximately 5 minutes).

From Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
From the LAX City Bus Center (Bus Bay 12), take Santa Monica Big Blue Bus 3 (direction UCLA) to 4th St./Colorado Blvd. in Santa Monica (approximately 35 minutes). Cross to the northeast corner and take Metro Express Bus 534 (direction Malibu) to the Getty Villa/Coastline Drive stop (approximately 20 minutes).

From Santa Monica
From 4th St./Colorado Blvd., take Metro Express Bus 534 (direction Malibu) to the Getty Villa/Coastline Drive stop (approximately 20 minutes).

From Pasadena

From Universal City/East San Fernando Valley
From the Universal City Metro station, take the Metro Red Line train to the Wilshire/Vermont station (approximately 15 minutes). Change to Metro Rapid Bus 720 (direction Santa Monica) and ride to Colorado Ave./4th St. (approximately 1 hour). Change to Metro Express Bus 534 (direction Malibu) to the Getty Villa/Coastline Drive stop (approximately 20 minutes).
