About
Goal
This project sheds new light on artist and choreographer Blondell Cummings by increasing access to her rarely seen works and personal archives. As Cummings experimented with form in her work—combining postmodern dance and Black cultural traditions with the moving image—this research also promotes interdisciplinary understandings of Cummings within larger histories of dance, film, art, and African American studies.
