Every October, content producer Mel Casas takes us on a tour of the darker items in Getty’s collection.

In episode one of her Macabre Minute video series, Casas kicks off the season with a closer look at an illuminated manuscript from 1475. She learns that one of its subjects, Tondal, a wealthy, errant knight, is enjoying a feast…a little too much. What could go wrong? Well, unfortunately for Tondal, a lot. When he chokes on his food and meets an angel who takes his soul on tours of hell and heaven, Tondal must decide what path his life will take.
