Working with the Antiquities Trafficking Unit of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and colleagues at the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Getty has initiated the return of 44 architectural terracotta fragments it acquired between 1977 and 1979.

The transfer is consistent with Getty’s policy to return objects to their country of origin or modern discovery when reliable information indicates that they were stolen or illegally excavated. The objects are not currently on display at the J. Paul Getty Museum.
