From the Great Beer Flood of 1814 to Ian McKellan, Jessie explores the stories and connections embedded in historic pubs around Lonon.

“It’s the stories that are interesting,” says Phil Carlisle, who works with Historic England to manage a database of significant locations in London. Each building, says Carlisle, tells a story about how people lived and worked. For Carlisle, this social history is embedded in the built environment and it’s necessary to monitor and track these locations. To do that, he uses Arches, a database powered by Getty.

Cheers!
