Annual Reporting

As a nonprofit private foundation, The J. Paul Getty Trust is an exempt organization under section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. As a private operating foundation, Getty must file a Form 990-PF with the IRS each year. This annual reporting return provides information on The Trust's mission, programs, and finances, including the fair market value of all assets, an analysis of revenue and expenses, and a complete listing of grants made.

Calendar Year Endowment Values 2013–2023

The annual budget is derived from taking 5% of the thirty‐six month average of the endowment ending the calendar year (i.e., December 31st) preceding the beginning of the new fiscal year (i.e., July 1st). The following pie charts present the FY25 budget based on this process.
