405 Freeway Construction
Roadwork to expand Interstate 405 through the Sepulveda Pass is currently underway. Please check Metro's website at www.metro.net/projects/I-405/ or Twitter feed at www.Twitter.com/I_405 for updates on construction and detours.
As part of the 405 widening project, the Getty Center's entrance is being redesigned. The entrance will be open throughout the construction.
The Getty Center Tram
A computer-operated tram takes you from the street-level entrance to the top of the hill. The tram is fully accessible. From the parking structure, take the elevators up to the Lower Tram Station (T1).
On busy days, please allow plenty of time for tram lines when arriving or departing.
Visitors are also welcome to walk up or down the hill along the pedestrian sidewalk, instead of taking the tram. The path is about 3/4 of a mile and has a moderately steep grade. The walk takes 15 to 20 minutes.
