On Saturday, April 21, the Getty Villa will offer an all-day Family Festival celebrating the exhibition Aphrodite and the Gods of Love.

On view until July 9, 2012, the exhibition explores the various aspects of the Greek goddess of love and beauty who was one of the most widely worshipped deities of the ancient world.

The festival activities include enchanting performances by Helios Dance Company, tales of Aphrodite told by storyteller Carl Weintraub, and a quartet of musicians whose sounds of ship bells explore the spaces at the Villa. The day will also include a variety of engaging workshops which will offer visitors a chance to make a shell hand mirror, a pair of divine wearable wings, and offerings to build a shrine to Aphrodite.

The family festival will take place at the Getty Villa in Malibu on Saturday, April 21, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Admission is free, but a ticket is required. Parking is $15 a car. To make a reservation please call (310) 440-7300 or visit www.getty.edu.
