About

Goal

The Graduate Internship program provides training and work experience in departments across Getty that prepare graduate students for visual arts careers.

Background

Graduate Internships are offered in the four programs of the J. Paul Getty Trust—the Getty Museum, the Getty Conservation Institute, the Getty Research Institute, and the Getty Foundation—and in Getty Publications, Getty Digital, Communications, and Development. Placements are typically available in areas such as curatorial, education, conservation, research, publications, web and new media, public programs, digital projects, and grantmaking.

Application Deadline

The application deadline for 2027-2028 Graduate Internships is November 3, 2026. Please review the Program Details below for more information on eligibility, grant terms, applications contents, and how to apply.

Please note: the Getty Center will temporarily close to the public from spring 2027 to spring 2028 for major modernization efforts on campus. Center staff and interns will continue to work on-site during the closure. (The Getty Villa will remain open as usual.)
