About
Goal
The aim of this scientific research on preventive conservation was to improve the management of the environmental conditions under which collections are housed and used through a program of collaborative scientific research.
Background
Preventive conservation, which is the management of the environmental conditions under which collections are housed and used, has been a research interest of the Getty Conservation Institute from the outset. Focusing on management and preventive measures that stabilize materials and slow the rate of deterioration, the Conservation Institute has studied environmental controls, appropriate storage, and the monitoring of objects.
