Tominc, Jožef (Slovene painter, 1790-1866, active in Austria and Italy)

Note: Tominc was trained in Gorizia in the studio of Karel Kebar. He studied in Rome with Domenico Conti Bazzani beginning in 1810. He won a silver medal at the Accademia di San Luca in 1814. He was famous for his technical facility. He was noted for his distinctive drawing technique, with three-dimensional figures and objects and cool colors, in a classicizing style influenced by Ingres and Vincenzo Camuccini.
