This is a past event

The celebrated Afro-Colombian ensemble REBOLÚ brings tropical dance music to the Getty. Founded by singer-composer-gaitero Ronald Polo and master percussionist Morris Cañate, the group both pays homage to and celebrates the people and culture of Colombia’s Caribbean coast. Joined by singer and cuatro player Johanna Castañeda and drummer Erica “Kika” Parra, the New York-based collective describes its sound as nothing short of a party; one effortlessly weaving indigenous instruments, African rhythms, urban beats, and Spanish lyrics. Definitely the perfect start to a new year!

Presented in collaboration with the Smithsonian Folklife Festival.
