Tudor / Dialects, still frame

A collaborative production by the Getty Research Institute and the California Institute of the Arts School of Music. Realized at the Walt Disney Modular Theater, May 18, 2001.

Dialects is a live electronics piece in which the performers use sound-processing instruments to transform two sets of prerecorded speech-like sounds: the beating of insects' wings and alpha waves.

Tudor instructed performers to combine these sounds with live electronic percussive elements triggered by bunches of vibrating wire flowers, designed by Jackie Mattise and played in this realization by Mark Trayle. (Ron Kuivila is the other performer.)
