Mánes, Antonín (Czech painter, 1784-1843)
|
Note: Painter and lithographer known for his landscapes. Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and the landscape school of Karel Postl, which he headed after Postl's death. Professor at the Academy from 1836 to 1843, establishing the landscape school there. His works incorporated realistic domestic scenes and the Bohemian countryside. He is considered one of the most important Czech artists of the Romantic era. Comment on works: landscape |
