Note: Buildings housing places devoted to the worship of a deity or deities. In the strictest sense, it refers to the dwelling place of a deity, and thus often houses a cult image. In modern usage a temple is generally a structure, but it was originally derived from the Latin "templum" and historically has referred to an uncovered place affording a view of the surrounding region. For Christian or Islamic religious buildings the terms "churches" or "mosques" are generally used, but an exception is that "temples" is used for Protestant, as opposed to Roman Catholic, places of worship in France and some French-speaking regions. |

Arabic ..... المباني المخصصة لعبادة الإله أو الآلهة. بالمعنى الدقيق للكلمة، فهو يشير إلى مسكن الإله، وبالتالي غالبًا ما يضم صورة عبادة. في الاستخدام الحديث، يعتبر المعبد بشكل عام عبارة عن هيكل، ولكنه مشتق في الأصل من الكلمة اللاتينية "تمبلوم" ويشير تاريخيًا إلى مكان غير مغطى يوفر إطلالة على المنطقة المحيطة. بالنسبة للمباني الدينية المسيحية أو الإسلامية، تُستخدم مصطلحات "الكنائس" أو "المساجد" بشكل عام، ولكن الاستثناء هو أن "المعابد" تستخدم في أماكن العبادة البروتستانتية، على عكس الروم الكاثوليك، في فرنسا وبعض المناطق الناطقة بالفرنسية. |

German ..... Ein Gebäude, das einen Ort beherbergt, der der Verehrung einer Gottheit oder Gottheiten gewidmet ist. Im engeren Sinne bezieht sich der Begriff auf die Wohnstätte einer Gottheit, weshalb dort meist ein Kultbild zu finden ist. Im modernen Gebrauch ist ein Tempel gewöhnlich ein Bauwerk, aber ursprünglich wurde es vom lateinischen "templum" abgeleitet und weist historisch auf einen offenen Ort hin, der einen Blick auf die Umgebung bot. Für ein christliches oder islamisches Religionsgebäude wird üblicherweise der Begriff "Kirche" oder "Moschee" verwendet, eine Ausnahme ist allerdings, das "Tempel" für evangelische, anstatt römisch-katholische, Gotteshäuser in Frankreich und einigen französischsprachigen Regionen verwendet wird. |
Spanish ..... Se refiere al lugar dedicado al culto de una deidad o deidades. En estricto sentido, se refiere a lugar en el que mora una deidad, y, en consecuencia, hace referencia también frecuentemente a la casa de la imagen de culto. En su uso moderno, un templo es generalmente una estructura, pero este término se derivó originariamente del latín "templum" e históricamente se ha referido al lugar no cubierto que ofrece una panorámica de los contornos de la region. Para los edificios religiosos cristianos o islámicos el término "templo" es usado por protestantes, en oposición a católicos romanos, lugares de culto en Francia y algunas regiones de habla francesa. |
