|
Note: Born 29 March 1869. Lutyens got his formal architectural education at the Kensington School of Art, London (he did not finish the course) and in the office of Ernest George and Harold Peto (1887-1889). In 1910 and 1911, he was active in Johannesburg (South Africa) where he designed The Art Gallery (1910-1941; the building was never finished) and the Rand Regiments Memorial (1911). Appointed in 1912, with Herbert Baker, architect to the Delhi Planning Commission in New Delhi, India. In 1917, Lutyens was appointed one of the Principal Architects of the Imperial War Graves Commission, with Reginald Blomfield, Herbert Baker and C.R. Holden .
