Richebourg, A. (French photographer and daguerreotypist, ca. 1810 - ca. 1876)
|
Note: In 1839, Richebourg was a student of optical instrument maker Vincent Chevalier, and together they made daguerreotype plates and lenses until the early 1840s. He was also a private student and supplier of Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre. In 1841, Richebourg opened his own daguerreotype studio in Paris. In 1852, he began experimenting with enlarging of negatives. In 1859, Richebourg exhibited photographs taken in Saint Petersburg, Russia, that were used to illustrate a book on Russian art treasures entitled, "Trésors d'art de la Russie ancienne et moderne". In 1862, Richebourg was the photographer to the French Crown, the City Hall of Paris, and the Ministry of Fine Arts. |
