Note: Concussion vessels of great antiquity, occurring in many sizes and grades of sound throughout their history. Traditionally they have consisted of a pair of round metal plates, usually slightly convex to create a resonant hollow, sounded by striking together. In modern orchestral and jazz music, cymbals are often played as percussion instruments, suspended and struck with drumsticks or wire brushes. |

Chinese (traditional) ..... 指極為古老的空心震動樂器,由古至今,鐃鈸具有許多各種不同的尺寸和聲量,傳統的鐃鈸由一對金屬圓盤組成,通常微凸的圓盤形成共鳴的空心,以互相敲擊發聲。但在現代管絃樂和爵士樂中,鐃鈸常被懸掛著,以鼓棒或鋼刷當作打擊樂器敲擊演奏。 |
Dutch ..... Concussievaten, bestaande uit een ronde, enigszins bolle metalen plaat, in diverse maten; bespeeld door ze tegen elkaar te slaan, of door ze aan te slaan met trommelstokken of brushes. |
German ..... Gegenschlaggefäß mit langer Tradition, das im Laufe seiner Geschichte in vielen Größen und Tonqualitäten hergestellt wurde. Traditionell bestand das Instrument aus einem Paar runder Teller, gewöhnlich leicht konvex, um einen Resonanzhohlraum zu formen, gespielt durch Gegeneinanderschlagen der Teller. In moderner Orchestermusik und im Jazz werden Becken oft als Schlaginstrumente eingesetzt, hängend und angeschlagen mit Schlägeln oder Stahlbesen. |

Spanish ..... Pequeños címbalos de metal, sujetos en pares a una horquilla con bisagras o a varas como horquillas que pueden ser afinados en un tono definitivo. Fueron conocidos en al Antiguo Egipto, Grecia y Roma, y continúan en uso en la actualidad en Myanmar (anteriormente Birmania). |
