Note: Artist works that manipulate natural earth and stone, altering the terrain of the land itself for artistic purposes. For large-scale outdoor works that otherwise exploit or incorporate aspects of their sites, use the more general term "environmental art." For the results of grading, trenching, or embanking earth, for utilitarian purposes, use "earthworks (engineering works)."

Gebruik deze term voor kunstwerken, soms tijdelijk van aard, vanaf het midden van de jaren zestig van de 20ste eeuw, die in en met de natuur tot stand zijn gekomen; soms met directe ingrepen, soms met meer immateriële ingrepen (bijvoorbeeld wandelingen) waarbij tijd en/of groeiprocessen een rol spelen. Veelal grote projecten die, als ze tijdelijk of immaterieel zijn, d.m.v. fotografie of film worden gedocumenteerd. Gebruik voor algemenere kunstwerken waarbij de omgeving wordt gebruikt 'omgevingskunst'. |

| Portuguese ..... Obras do artista que manipulam a terra natural e a pedra, alterando o terreno do próprio terreno para fins artísticos. Para trabalhos externos de grande escala que de outra forma exploram ou incorporam aspectos de seus sites, use o termo mais geral "arte ambiental". Para os resultados de nivelamento, abertura de valas ou terraplenagem para fins utilitários, use "terraplenagem (obras de engenharia). |
| Spanish ..... Úsese para obras que manipulan tierra natural y piedras, alterando el terreno del mismo para propósitos artísticos. Para obras exteriores de gran escala que de otra manera aprovechan o incorporan aspectos de su emplazamiento, use un término más general "arte ecológico (obra)". Para el resultado de inclinar, trinchar o terraplenar tierra, para propósitos utilitarios, use "obra (obra de ingeniería)". |
