Fashion in the Middle Ages
May 31–August 14
The Getty Center
Explore costumes in the pages of illuminated manuscripts, and learn how fashion in medieval Europe revealed—and could sometimes obscure—a person's wealth, status, and occupation. The exhibition examines the extravagant cost of clothing worn by the elite and the styles and fabrics permitted by custom and law, as well as the inventiveness artists employed to embellish historical depictions of fashion.
