Explore the origins of the Italian Renaissance in a new exhibition that features breathtaking devotional paintings, precious manuscripts, and luminous stained glass created in the rich artistic community of Florence in the early 1300s.
Years in the making, this major exhibition assembles an unprecedented seven paintings by Giotto di Bondone and 24 surviving leaves from the magnificent manuscript known as the Laudario of Sant'Agnese, among other treasures.
The exhibition website includes audio commentary from curators and conservators, along with interactive features that explore objects' history and meaning in depth.

After discovering the dawn of the Renaissance through paintings and manuscripts, explore its late hours through Old Master drawings from Italy, France, and the Netherlands. Complementing Florence at the Dawn of the Renaissance, this exhibition reveals how a new style, characterized by contorted, elongated forms and dramatically animated compositions, sprang up in Florence and spread north across Europe.

Actor, director, and art historian Peter Weller—best known for his roles in the movie Robocop and the television shows 24 and Dexter—draws on his unique experiences studying art history, lecturing, and living in Florence to explore the dynamic artistic, political, economic, and religious climate of early Renaissance Florence in a conversation with Christine Sciacca, curator of the exhibition Florence at the Dawn of the Renaissance.
