Maria Carolina, Queen consort of Ferdinand I (Neapolitan queen consort, 1752-1814)
|
Note: Daughter of the empress Maria Theresa of Austria and and Emperor Francis I; married Ferdinand as part of Austrian alliance with Spain. Given her influence over her husband, she was known as the source of power in Naples, under the influence of her favorite, Sir John Acton. Typically known as Queen of Naples, never as Queen of the Two Sicilies, as she died before her husband assumed that title. Comment on works: Miniatures |
