Buchla, Don (American inventor and composer, 1937-2016)
|
Note: Buchla studied astronomy, music, and physiology at the University of California, Berkeley, graduating as a physics major in 1959. He became interested in musique concrète and worked at the San Francisco Tape Music Center as a composer, and there began building electronic instruments commissioned by Morton Subotnick and Ramon Sender. He went on to build electronic music studios for educational institutions, and to design electronic music devices for sale to the public. He is best known for the modular synthesizers that he developed, beginning in the 1960s. |
