Charles VI, King of France (French king, 1368-1422)

Note: Child of Charles V of France and Joan of Bourbon. Inherited the throne at age 11 during the Hundred Years' War; his four uncles ruled until he was 21: Philip the Bold, Duke of Burgundy; John, Duke of Berry; Louis I, Duke of Anjou; and Louis II, Duke of Bourbon. His wife was Isabeau of Bavaria. Later he reportedly suffered bouts of insanity, and others vied for the throne. |
