Association of American Painters and Sculptors (American artists' organization, active 1911-ca. 1913)
|
Note: While the initial goal of the Association of American Painters and Sculptors wasto find suitable exhibition space for young American artists, its main achievement, under the leadership of Davies, Pach, and Kuhn, was the International Exhibition of Modern Art of 1913. This exhibition, commonly known as the Armory Show, introduced European modernism to a large American audience and which, in effect, stripped the National Academy of Design of its importance. The Association disbanded shortly afterwards. |
