Jehner, Isaak (English watercolorist and engraver, 1750-after 1806)
|
Note: The son of a German goldsmith; as a young man he was deformed as a result of an accident. At the age of twenty he apprenticed with an engraver, and after 1775 worked with William Pether. In 1791 he showed 5 prints at the Society of Artists under the name of Jenner. He is known for portraits in pencil, watercolor, and oils, and particularly for paintings on silk. He worked in Exeter and Plymouth, and in 1806 published an autobiography entitled "Fortune's Football." |
