Guyot, Laurent (French painter and tapestry designer, ca. 1575-after 1644)
|
Note: In 1607 Guyot was one of the painters of cartoons for a series of tapestries commissioned by Henry IV; the tapestries depicted the History of Artemisia, after drawings by Antoine Caron. He is documented as a painter of cartoons for the Gobelins in 1618, 1625, and 1636. Only his tapestries are known; most of these are pastoral subjects. Guyot is said to have been the teacher of Jean Cotelle the Elder. |
