Note: Japanese barrel drums with two heads, only one of which is struck; the size and ratio of diameter to length vary greatly, and the membranes are either tacked to the body or laced on, sometimes lapped over metal rings and then laced. Taiko have a legendary origin in Japanese folklore, but historical records suggest they came to Japan in the 6th century CE through Korea and China.

Chinese (traditional) ..... 通常用來指具兩個鼓面的日本桶狀鼓,僅敲打其中一個鼓面演奏其尺寸和直徑長度的比例可有很多不同的變化,以釘或繫的方式將鼓膜固定於鼓身,有些則是將鼓膜疊於金屬環上,再以繩子繫住固定。

Spanish ..... Úsese generalmente para tambores de barril japoneses con dos cabezas, golpeándose sólo una de ellas; el tamaño y proporción del diámetro con respecto al largo varía muchísimo, y las membranas están clavadas al cuerpo o amarradas a éste, algunas veces estiradas sobre metal y luego amarradas.
