Note: Works that use non-art elements, often junk and/or debris, to form a work of art. Assemblages are sculptural works created since about 1945 by the technique of assemblage, the creation of a three-dimensional work of art by combining various elements, especially found objects. They may include elements painted, carved, or modeled by the artist. For such works created earlier in the 20th century, see "object sculpture." |

Dutch ..... Beeldhouwwerken die vanaf circa 1945 zijn gemaakt met behulp van de assemblagetechniek, waarmee driedimensionale kunstwerken tot stand komen door verschillende elementen te combineren, vooral objets trouvés. Ook door de kunstenaar geschilderde, beeldgesneden of geboetseerde elementen kunnen deel uitmaken van assemblages. Zie 'object sculpture' voor dergelijke werken van vóór 1945. |
German ..... Arbeit, die keine artifizielle Elemente verwendet, sondern oft Reste und/oder Abfall, und daraus ein Kunstwerk entstehen lässt. Assemblagen sind Skulpturarbeiten, die seit etwa 1945 mit der Technik der Assemblage geschaffen wurden. Dabei wird ein dreidimensionales Kunstwerk durch das Kombinieren verschiedener Elemente, meist Fundobjekte, erschaffen. Hinzu kommen bemalte, geschnitzte oder modelierte Elemente des Künstlers. Zu solchen Arbeiten, die vor dem 20. Jahrhundert entstanden sind siehe “Objektskulptur”. |
