| Chinese (traditional) ..... 羅馬天主教聖人雕像，或基督受難的聖者雕像，製於美國西班牙語區及墨西哥，自西班牙殖民時期延續至今。其大小不等，小則為一或兩英寸高，大則至真人尺寸；通常取材三角葉楊或松樹，可能由單整塊木料圓雕而成，或使用不同塊木料，分別雕出幾個部位，再用布料或皮條繫住固定，多覆以石膏底，並塗敷明亮顏料，有些會加穿衣物。 |

Beelden van rooms-katholieke heiligen en van Christus aan het kruis, gemaakt in Mexico en Spaanssprekende delen van de Verenigde Staten van de Spaanse koloniale tijd tot het heden, in grootte variërend van klein (5 à 10 cm) tot levensgroot, vrijstaand gebeeldhouwd uit hout, meestal populier of grenen, voorzien van een laagje gesso en beschilderd in heldere kleuren. Ze kunnen zijn gemaakt uit één stuk of uit verschillende delen, vaak geleed of met pinnen aan elkaar bevestigd met behulp van stof of stroken leer, en worden soms in kleding gehuld. |

| Spanish ..... Se refiere a estatuas de figuras sagradas católicas y Cristo crucificado, producidas en México y los Estados Unidos hispano parlante desde tiempos colonial hasta el presente, desde pequeñas de 2,5 o 5 centímetros hasta de tamaño real, talladas en bulto en madera, generalmente madera de álamo o pino, cubierto con yeso y pintado brillantemente. Pueden ser talladas de una sola pieza o en varias secciones, a menudo articuladas o unidas usando bandas de tela o cuero y algunas veces vestidas. Técnica escultórica que talla en una sola pieza de madera una imagen tridimensional. También se conoce como escultura exenta, de bulto redondo de talla completa. La técnica fue traída directamente de España a través del proceso de evangelización. Este arte sacro tiene un período de auge en América en la primera mitad hasta fines del siglo XVII. Fue menos popular que la imagen de candelero que permitía abaratar costos en materiales y era más fácil de transportar. |
