Note: Granito del foro is an igneous rock which was once quarried at Mons Claudianus in Egypt. It is in fact a granodiorite rather than a granite, and is named for its use in buildings of the Roman Forum especially during the reigns of Trajan and Hadrian and in Tetrarchic imperial architecture.
Dutch ..... Granito del foro is een stollingsgesteente dat vroeger werd gedolven bij Mons Claudianus in Egypte. Het is in feite geen graniet maar granodioriet, en is genoemd naar het gebruik in gebouwen van het Forum Romanum, vooral tijdens de heerschappij van Trajanus en van Hadrianus, en in de architectuur tijdens de tetrarchie.
