Note: Bells having a very particular ceremonial significance in ancient or Roman Catholic ceremonies. It may refer to a bell mounted on a pole and carried in procession or otherwise displayed, signifying a cathedral (seat of a bishop) and its link to the Pope. It derives from a medieval practice where a mounted bell was used in papal processions to alert passersby of the approach of the Pope. The term may also refer to a distinctive Etruscan or Roman carved or decorated ceremonial or funereal bell, or such a bell-shape depicted in two dimensions in a relief sculpture or wall painting.

| Dutch ..... Bel met een specifieke betekenis tijdens oude of rooms-katholieke ceremonies. Het kan een klokje zijn op een steel dat men tijdens een processie meedraagt of op een andere manier uitstalt en dat een kathedraal (de zetel van een bisschop) symboliseert en de band daarvan met de paus. Het gebruik ervan gaat terug tot de Middeleeuwen, toen men tijdens pauselijke processies voorbijgangers met een bel waarschuwde dat de paus eraan kwam. De term kan ook verwijzen naar versierde Etruskische en Romeinse begrafenisklokken en ceremoniële klokken of voor afbeeldingen daarvan in twee dimensies op reliëfs of muurschilderingen. |
| German ..... Glocke mit einer sehr speziellen zeremoniellen Bedeutung in antiken oder römisch-katholischen Zeremonien. Die Bezeichnung kann sich auf eine Glocke beziehen, die an einer Tragstange befestigt ist und in einer Prozession getragen oder auf andere Weise präsentiert wird, um auf eine Kathedrale (Bischofssitz) und seine Verbindung mit dem Papst hinzuweisen. Diese Verwendung ist abgeleitet von einer mittelalterlichen Praxis, in der eine an einer Stange befestigte Glocke in päpstlichen Prozessionen benutzt wurde, um Passanten die Ankunft des Papstes zu verkünden. Die Bezeichnung kann sich auch auf eine besondere etruskische oder römische, geschnitzte oder verzierte zeremonielle oder in Trauerzeremonien benutzte Glocke beziehen, oder auf eine solche Glockenform in zweidimensionaler Darstellung in einem Relief oder einem Wandgemälde. |
