Note: Refers to the process used to create tapestries, which are heavy, woven textiles characterized by ornamental or pictorial designs and used as wall hangings, curtains, upholstery, or to hang from windows or balconies. The process is performed on a tapestry loom and differs from cloth-weaving in that the weft travels only to the warp at the edge of a particular color or pattern in the design, rather traveling from edge to edge of the entire piece of fabric. Various techniques are used in mixing and overlaying colors to create shading and patterns. Details of the design are often painted or embroidered.

| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar het procedé van het maken van zware wandtapijten, geweven stoffen die worden gekenmerkt door ornamentele of picturale dessins en die aan muren worden gehangen, gordijnen, stoffering, of stoffen om aan vensters of balkons te hangen. Het procedé wordt uitgevoerd op een weefgetouw voor tapijten en verschilt van het weven van overige stoffen doordat de inslag alleen naar de schering gaat aan de rand van een bepaalde kleur of een bepaald patroon in het dessin, en niet van de ene naar de andere rand van de hele stof gaat. Er wordt gebruik gemaakt van verschillende technieken voor het mengen en laten overlappen van kleuren om schaduwen en patronen te creëren. Details van het dessin worden vaak beschilderd of geborduurd. |

Refere-se ao processo usado para criar tapeçarias, que são tecidos pesados e tecidos caracterizados por desenhos ornamentais ou pictóricos e usados como tapeçarias, cortinas, estofados ou para pendurar em janelas ou varandas. O processo é realizado em um tear de tapeçaria e difere da tecelagem de tecido porque a trama viaja apenas para a urdidura na borda de uma cor ou padrão específico no desenho, em vez de viajar de borda a borda de todo o pedaço de tecido.
